Virginia T. Schlosser, 84, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life, with family and friends at her side, on Wednesday evening, June 25, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Her loving husband is William A. Schlosser with whom she celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 15th.
Born on March 25, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, Virginia was the only daughter born to the late John J. Witek and Marie T. Horan Witek Maxwell, and was the step-daughter of the late John J. Maxwell.
Raised in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township, Virginia was a graduate of the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School, serving as valedictorian of the Class of 1959. Following high school, she went on to take courses at Kings College, Wilkes-Barre.
Virginia began her career in the banking industry as a Savings Teller for the former First Eastern Bank. She eventually gained employment with the Luzerne National Bank in Luzerne, working there as a Computer Operator, and eventually transferred to the Swoyersville branch, where she worked as a Customer Service Representative. She retired from Luzerne National Bank after 25 years of service.
Always a woman of deep faith, Virginia was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. She was a past member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville and, in her earlier years, the former Saint Joseph’s Monastery, Wilkes-Barre Township, where she taught catechism and CCD lessons.
Virginia was a member of the American Institute of Banking, the Wyoming Valley Ski Club and the Kingston Senior Citizens Club.
Virginia had many enjoyments in life – most notably, she was a great fan of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins hockey team, enjoying the many hockey games she attended with her family over the years. She possessed a great interest in hot air ballooning and was most proud that her hot air balloon finished second in a race at Shawnee during one of her rides. She also had a passion for the music of her favorite performer, Andrea Bocelli.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William, and their daughter, Marie R. Cousin and her husband, William; her grandson, Christopher Cousin and his wife, Jennifer; her great-grandsons, Milo and Gavin; as well as cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, July 02, 2025, at 12:00 PM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:30 PM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and friends are invited to attend Virginia’s viewing which will be held on Tuesday, July 01, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
