Vincent P. Krajnak, 87, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 04, 2021, at his home.
His loving wife is Frances (Jaworski) Krajnak. Vince and Frances were looking forward to celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary on May 16th.
Born on August 11, 1933, in Lansford, Vincent was the son of the late Vincent and Margaret (Stack) Krajnak.
Raised in Lansford, Vince was a graduate of Lansford High School, Class of 1951.
A proud 7-year veteran of the United States Coast Guard, Vince served his country during the Korean War, and was stationed at one time in Montauk, Long Island, New York, and Bermuda. Upon his honorable discharge in 1959, he attained the rank of Boatswain’s Mate 3rd Class. His service in the Coast Guard resulted in Vince’s love of lighthouses and his love for lighthouses lives on in the memories of his children.
Vince began his career as a state corrections officer at Graterford State Correctional Institute in 1959. He eventually transferred to the State Correctional Institute at Dallas where he served as an identification officer, retiring from there in 1995. He placed strong value on work ethic and honesty.
A man of Christian faith, Vince was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, now consolidated into Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. In his younger years, he was actively involved with the annual parish summer festival, working in the kitchen and with the assembly of the stands.
An avid sports fan, Vince enjoyed following his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Vince was fortunate to enjoy a long, happy retirement, puttering around his home and watching the birds from his backyard deck. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to their favorite shore points along the East coast, as well as visiting their grandchildren in New Jersey and Canada.
Vince was an outstanding father who supported his children in achieving all their dreams by always being there for them. Their life accomplishments were a source of great pride to him.
In addition to his parents, Vincent and Margaret Krajnak, Vince was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Ondeck and Mary Stalowski; and his brother, George Krajnak.
In addition to his wife, Frances, Vince is survived by his daughter, Dr. Judith Krajnak, Alberta, Canada; his son, Mark Krajnak, Lawrenceville, New Jersey. He was known as Grandpa and Pop to his five grandchildren, Robert V. Allen, and Abigail M. Allen, both of Canada; Olivia G. Krajnak, Chase V. Krajnak, and Matthew L. Krajnak, all of New Jersey. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Krajnak, Lansford; and Rita Mikulski and her husband, Bernard, Bethlehem; his brother, Michael Krajnak, Jim Thorpe; as well as his nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks to Dr. James Galasso, Lois, and his entire staff for their attentive care and concern for Vince over the years.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on the anniversary of Vince’s 88th birthday, Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township, where a farewell service will be rendered by the Corrections Officers from the State Correctional Institute at Dallas, and Military Honors accorded by the United States Coast Guard.
