Victoria Kolesar Meckalavage, 91, a resident of Exeter and formerly of Duryea, passed into eternal life on Wednesday morning, September 09, 2026, at the home of her devoted daughter and caregiver, Rosanne Szymanski, in Duryea.

Her beloved husband of 47 years was the late Raymond David Meckalavage who passed away on May 03, 2003.

Born on February 11, 1935, in Coxton, Victoria was one of six children born to the late Michael Kolesar and Victoria Mudzik Kolesar.

Raised in Pittston, Victoria was a graduate of Pittston High School, Class of 1953, and enjoyed monthly luncheons with her fellow classmates as well as planning their class reunions. Following high school, Victoria studied business at Temple University, Philadelphia, where she met her future husband, Raymond, leaving college early to marry him.

Prior to her retirement, Victoria was employed for many years as an office manager in the insurance industry, working for Sieminski Insurance Agency, Wilkes-Barre, and their successors, and was a past member of the Insurance Women’s Association. Following her retirement, she worked part-time in the office of the former Bon-Ton Department Store at its location in the Midway Shopping Center, Wyoming.

A woman of strong faith, Victoria was a member of both Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, and Nativity of Our Lord Parish, Duryea, and treasured her Byzantine Catholic roots.

Victoria was an ardent supporter of the Germania Hose Company, Duryea, assisting with its annual picnic where she would work the potato pancake stand. She was also actively involved with the Pittston Active Adult Senior Center where she enjoyed crafting and crocheting, and, in her earlier years, she was an avid bowler.

Above all, Victoria will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and “mom mom.” Although her presence will be missed beyond words, there is joy in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her loved ones, especially her husband and son.

In addition to her parents, Michael and Victoria Kolesar, and her husband, Raymond, Victoria was preceded in death by her son, David Meckalavage, who passed away on April 13, 1985; her son-in-law, Robert Szymanski, who passed away on October 11, 2001; her brothers, John, George, Daniel and Michael Kolesar; and her sister, Dianne Kolesar.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Rosanne Szymanski, Duryea; ; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Meckalavage, who sadly passed away unexpectedly only three days after Victoria on September 12, 2026; her granddaughter, Melissa Meckalavage, Duryea; as well as generations of nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Victoria’s services which will begin with viewing on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, where a Panachida service will be celebrated at 7:00 PM by the Reverend Father Andrii Dumnych, Pastor of Saint Michael the Archangel Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston.

Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 10:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in Corpus Christi Parish, Immaculate Conception Church, 605 Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, her Pastor, officiating.

The burial service in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township, will be private for her immediate family.
