Thomas C. Perks, 81, a resident of Forty Fort, passed away on Monday morning, May 30, 2022, at Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Kingston, following a very long illness.
His wife is Marie (Howatch) Perks. Together, Thomas and Marie shared 60 years of marriage.
Born on September 25, 1940, in Pittston, Tom was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Castner) Perks.
Tom was a graduate of the former Kingston High School and West Side Vocational-Technical School. He then enlisted in the United States Navy serving aboard the U.S.S. Hailey.
Working in the food industry for 40 years, Tom was employed by Acme Markets, and Price Chopper Markets, from where he retired.
Tom’s main interests in life were gardening around his home; planting his huge vegetable garden; fishing, hiking, and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Marie, Tom is survived by his dear children, Susan Dwyer and her husband, Paul, Lumberton, New Jersey; Karen Barbose and her husband, Sam, Courtdale; and Thomas Perks and his wife, Kerry Ann, Ashley; his beloved grandchildren, Chris, Matt, and Emily Dwyer, all of Lumberton, New Jersey; and Kayleigh Perks, Ashley; his brother, Robert Perks; as well his several nephews and cousins.
The Perks family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude and enormous thanks to the staff of Compassionate Care, Olyphant, for their support and work with Tom during his time of need; to the nurses and staff from VA Home Care, for all they did to help Tom; and to Chaplain Dennis Gray for his spiritual guidance.
Funeral services at this time are private. A family memorial service will be held in the future.
