Theodore “Ted” Skrainy, 86, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, passed away early Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.Born on October 27, 1927, in Swoyersville, Theodore was the son of the late Andrew and Alexandra (Andrejewski) Skrainy.Ted was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1946. While attending high school, Ted worked a full-time job to help support his family.Prior to his retirement, Ted was employed by Luzerne Optical, Wilkes-Barre. In his earlier years, he was employed as a baker for the former Blue Ribbon Bakery, Kingston.Ted was a lifelong member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.A man of great faith, Ted had an unwavering devotion to Saint Ann. He would drive every Monday to Saint Ann’s Basilica, Scranton, to attend Mass and pray the Novena to Saint Ann. Also, every year, he attended the nine day solemn novena to Saint Ann.Ted loved going to all the local Bazaars and the Bloomsburg Fair. He was always out to support his neighbors and share the “veggies” from his garden.In addition to his parents, Andrew and Alexandra Skrainy, Ted was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Skrainy; his sister-in-law, Marian Skrainy; and his dear friend, Helen Vivian.Ted is survived by his sister, Sophie Pointon and her husband, Robert, Swoyersville; his nephews, Walter Skrainy and his wife, Phyllis; Gerald Skrainy and his wife, Karen; Robert Pointon and his wife, Nancy; Richard Pointon and his wife, Cheryl; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Celtic Healthcare Hospice for the compassionate care they bestowed upon Ted during his time of need.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, September 22, 2014, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J.
