Teresa Gonglefski, 86, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday morning, July 6, 2013, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Her beloved husband was the late Joseph R. “Chooch” Gonglefski, who passed away on May 12, 2011. Together, Chooch and Teresa shared 63 1/2 beautiful years of marriage.

Born on June 19, 1927, in West Wyoming, Teresa was the daughter of the late S. Ralph and Mary (Rutski) Charney.

Raised in West Wyoming, Teresa was a graduate of the former West Wyoming High School, Class of 1945.

After high school, Teresa went on to attend beauty school receiving her cosmetology license.

Prior to her retirement, Teresa operated her own beauty salon in her home for many years.

A devout Catholic, Teresa was a past member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville.

Following the consolidation of her Church, Teresa became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville, where she held membership with the parish’s Confraternity of Christian Women.

A woman of strong and unwavering faith in God, Teresa found peace in attending Mass regularly and reading her prayer book. An inspiring person with a great and vibrant spirit, she radiated positive energy and was always smiling. Teresa was full of wisdom and many looked to her for patient and compassionate guidance.

Teresa was known for her attention and care to loved ones. She exemplified the virtue of hospitality – any and everyone was welcome into her home. Teresa spent her time writing cards and making phone calls to family and friends.

Teresa’s life is best summed up by these words from Scripture, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love, but the greatest of these is love.” The love she had for her husband, children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Her love also carried over to her extended family and friends. It is that love which will resonate in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

In addition to her parents, Ralph and Mary Charney and her husband, Chooch, Teresa was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Charney and her sisters, Katie Bubblo and Mary Beehler.

Teresa is survived by her son Joseph Vincent Gonglefski and his wife Katherine (Faerber) of Alpharetta, Georgia; her daughter, Denise Scoble of Burke, Virginia; her foster daughter, Teresa (Lorraine) O’Hara and her husband Tom of Tonawanda, New York; her grandchildren, Amy,  J.V. and Carolyn Gonglefski, Erin and Matthew Scoble; her brothers and sisters, Justina Charney, of Dallas; Ralph Charney, of Maple Heights, Ohio; Agnes Olah, of West Wyoming; Joseph Charney, of Wilmington, Delaware; and Patrick Charney, of Forty Fort; her nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating. The Reverend Anthony M. Urban, family friend, will con-celebrate the Funeral Mass and serve as homilist.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.

Family and Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 09, 2013, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. The Confraternity of Christian Women of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish will recite the Rosary on Tuesday evening at 7:15 PM.
