Sylvia L. Cebrick Miller, 83, a resident of West Wyoming, passed into eternal life late Tuesday evening, December 20, 2022, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on June 14, 1939, in Swoyersville, Sylvia was one of five children born to the late Thomas Cebrick and Mary Silkowski Cebrick.
A graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1957, Sylvia was employed for many years as a seamstress in the local garment industry, and held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed working part-time as a pizza maker for the Perhach Family at their family restaurant, Pizza L’Oven, Exeter.
A woman of strong faith, Sylvia was a member of Saint Monica’s Parish, Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming.
Sylvia had many enjoyments in life, especially traveling; cooking; going out to dinner; and listening to music from the 1980’s. Above all, she loved spending time with her daughter, Cindy, and visiting with her large extended family. Although her presence will be deeply missed, the beautiful memory of her will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Mary Cebrick, Sylvia was preceded in death by her three sisters, Lucille Hannon, Mary Cebrick, and Anita Diehl.
Sylvia is survived by her loving daughter, Cindy Miller, West Wyoming; her brother, Richard T. Cebrick, Dallas; her numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her beloved cat, Peanut.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses, nurse’s aides, and staff at the Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter, for the excellent care they bestowed upon Sylvia during her short time there.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Sylvia’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 10:00 AM in Saint Monica’s Parish, Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 363 West 8th Street, West Wyoming, with the Reverend Father Peter A. Tomczak, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment will privately follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes, the viewing will be private for her family.
