Stephen C. Sovan, 60, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025, in the comfort of his home.
Born on January 03, 1965, in Somerville, New Jersey, Stephen was the son of Sarah A. Gilroy Sovan, Swoyersville, and the late Michael N. Sovan.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Stephen was a graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1983.
Stephen was currently employed as a department manager for Chewy, Hanover Township, where he was much loved by all his co-workers.
A lover of animals, Stephen was also an avid sports enthusiast and a great fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Phillies. Having the unique ability of lighting up every room he entered, everyone who met Stephen instantly loved him because he was always the life of the party.
Above all, Stephen was happiest when surrounded by beloved family, especially looking forward to his weekly breakfast with his loved ones on Sunday mornings. His family will forever cherish the beautiful memories they have of him. Although his presence will be missed beyond measure, he will forever be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his father, Stephen was preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Michael D. Sovan.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Sarah and her companion, David Ash, Swoyersville; his five siblings, Susan Barrett and her husband, John, Bradenton, Florida; Kimberly Moreno and her husband, John, El Paso, Texas; Kevin Sovan and his wife, Pamela, Liverpool, New York; Thomas Sovan, Harrisburg; and Eric Sovan, Kingston; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private visitation and blessing service will be held for the immediate family. Deacon John F. Bankus, Permanent Deacon of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
The Sovan family entrusted Stephen’s funeral arrangements to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
