Sophie Koshinski, 92, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, June 07, 2013, at the Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter, where she had been a guest for the past year.
Her beloved husband was the late Walter Koshinski, who passed away on October 24, 1971. Together, Walter and Sophie shared 33 years of marriage.
Born on April 01, 1921, in Swoyersville, Sophie was the daughter of the late Vincent (Veytovich) Wojtowicz and Anna (Leonard) Wojtowicz.
Sophie was raised in Swoyersville and had resided their most of her life. For twelve years, she and her husband lived in New Jersey, returning to the local area in 1969.
Prior to her retirement in 1993, Sophie was employed in the housekeeping department of the former Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston, taking care of their executive offices. In her earlier years, she worked in the local garment industry.
Sophie was a lifelong member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville.
A dedicated homemaker, Sophie greatly enjoyed cooking for her family and was known for keeping an immaculate home.
Sophie’s late husband was a talented musician and she loved listening to his music. She had a lively personality and always enjoyed dancing.
Family was the most important thing to Sophie and she always enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. Her beautiful presence will be missed but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Vincent and Anna Wojtowicz and her husband, Walter, Sophie was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Koshinski; her brothers, John Wojtowicz, William Veytovich and George Veytovich; her sisters, Mary Schultz, Helen Mullish, Violet Golumbeski, Stella Kovalchik, Florence DiOrio, Vera Yagloski and Nellie Bebey.
Sophie is survived by her children, Gene Koshinski and his wife Sara, of Fort Worth, Texas; Eddie Koshinski and his wife Aline, of Spring Brook; Beverly Monahan and her husband Larry, of Wyoming; Cindy Bernstein and her husband Bill, of Midlothian, Virginia; Debra Faldowski and her husband Charles, of Swoyersville; and Lisa Zdancewicz and her husband Jeff, of Swoyersville; her fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; her sisters, Dorothy Bozinko, of Wyoming and Dolores Chieco, of New York; her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Blessing Service which will be celebrated on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, officiating.
