Sophie Ann Pointon, 92, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Friday morning, October 01, 2021, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Her loving husband is Robert T. Pointon. Together, Bob and Sophie celebrated their 69^th wedding anniversary on September 27^th.

Born on September 21, 1929, in Swoyersville, Sophie was one of three children born to the late Andrew and Alexandra (Andrejewski) Skrainy.

Raised in Swoyersville and residing there all her life, Sophie was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1947.

Prior to her retirement, Sophie was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, working for various garment manufacturers over the years. She held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.

A woman of great faith, Sophie was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

Sophie was a kind and quiet woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as curling up with a good book; tending to her vegetable and flower gardens; and working on puzzles. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, Sophie leaves behind a beautiful legacy that will live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Andrew and Alexandra Skrainy, Sophie was preceded in death by her two brothers, Walter Skrainy and his wife, Marian; and Theodore Skrainy.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Sophie is survived by her sons, Robert Pointon and his wife, Nancy, Pittsburgh; and Richard Pointon and his wife, Cheryl, Sarasota, Florida; her five grandchildren, Alexandra Pointon; Nicholas Pointon and his wife, Kathleen; Lucas Pointon; Tia Schreyer; and Ryan Schreyer; her two great-grandchildren, Harry and Vivienne; as well as her nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Sophie’s viewing which will be held on Friday, October 08, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.

In keeping with Sophie’s wishes, the funeral and burial will be private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
