Shirley J. Davis Hafner, 92, a resident of Forty Fort, and formerly of Frackville, entered into eternal life on Sunday morning, September 01, 2024, at Maple Ridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Kingston, where she was a guest since June.
Her beloved husband of 36 years was the late John M. Hafner, who passed away on January 01, 1990.
Born on March 12, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, Shirley was one of nine children born to the late Thomas Davis Sr. and Loretta Swartwood Davis.
Raised in Kingston, Shirley was a graduate of the former Kingston High School, Class of 1950.
Prior to her retirement, Shirley was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry, working in garment factories both in Frackville and the local area. She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
During the years she and her husband resided in Frackville, Shirley was a devout member of Zion Lutheran Church, Frackville, and its Women’s Guild, and was also an active member of the Ladies of the Elks, Lodge 1533, Frackville, serving as its past treasurer.
A loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend, Shirley was fiercely devoted to her family and the love she had for each of her family members was immeasurable.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Loretta Davis, and her husband, John, Shirley was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank, Thomas, Joseph, Richard, George, and Stanley Davis; and her sisters, Mary Hennigar and Loretta Brown.
Left to cherish her memory are her nephew, John M. Brown Jr. and his wife, Gertrude, with whom Shirley resided, and their children, her great-nieces, Justina Brown; Loretta Brown and her daughter, Laura; and Heather Brown and her children, Ashley, Amber, Autumn, Austin, Adyn, and Alexis; as well as a host of other nieces, nephews, and generations of great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Shirley’s viewing which will be held on Thursday, September 05, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. Her funeral service will commence at 7:00 PM, with Deacon John F. Bankus, Permanent Deacon of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, officiating.
Interment will be held on Friday, September 06, 2024, at 11:00 AM, in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Frackville, where Shirley will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
