Sandra L. Jacobs, 90, formerly of 47 Old River Road, Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life on Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022, at Smith Health Care LTD, Mountaintop, where she had been a guest since 2017.
Her beloved husband of 29 years, Matthew T. Jacobs, Funeral Director, passed away on June 14, 2015.
Born on July 22, 1932, in Wilkes-Barre, Sandra was the daughter of the late Thomas F. Walker and Carolyn B. (Laity) Walker.
Raised in Scranton, Sandra was a graduate of the former Scranton Technical High School, Class of 1950.
Sandra was honored to assist her husband with the daily operation of his funeral home, the former Matthew T. Jacobs Funeral Home, Wilkes-Barre, until their retirement in 2012. She was also employed as a secretary at Heights-Murray Elementary School, Wilkes-Barre, and as a teller and utility clerk for the former First Eastern Bank, Hanover Township.
Raised Presbyterian, Sandra was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Wilkes-Barre, for many years. Eventually converting to Catholicism, she became a devout member of the former Saint Therese Church, Wilkes-Barre, and, following the closing of Saint Therese’s, she became a member of Saint Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Carolyn Walker, and her husband, Matthew, Sandra is reunited in Heaven with her daughter, Carolyn L. Martin, who passed on October 23, 2015; her brother, Walter Walker; her husband’s step-son, Dr. Thomas “Tim” Antrim; her brother-in-law, John X. Jacobs and his wife, Millie; and her sister-in-law, Rosemary Lynch and her husband, E. James Lynch; her nephew, Eric Walker; her nieces, Erin “Fluff” Jacobs and Patricia Lynch; and her great-nephew, Conor John Xavier Scherle.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, Barbara Marcelli and her husband, Dr. Rick Marcelli, Delaware; her son, David Martin, California; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Antrim, New Hampshire; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Thomas Walker and his wife, Lois, North Carolina; her sister-in-law, Barbara Walker, Harding; her brother-in-law, Joseph Jacobs and his wife, Edith, Wilkes-Barre; her dear cousin, Dorothy “Duffy” Koons, Drums; and her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
To the staff of Smith Health Care LTD, especially Donna Strittmater, Mary Bielman, and Tammy Preston, the outstanding care you provided Sandra, as well as the love and compassion you showered upon her will never be forgotten – you are all Angels on Earth!
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, December 01, 2022, at 9:15 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Nicholas Church, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre.
Family and Friends are invited to Sandra’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
