Sadie M. (Moran) Ferrance, 97, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2016. For the past 3 months she was a resident at the New England Home for the Deaf in Danvers, Massachusetts.
Sadie was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 20, 1919 to James and Amelia (Bryan) Moran. She was the oldest of four children. Her brothers Robert, Donald and James Moran preceded her in death.
She married Alex J. Ferrance in 1937 and they were blessed with four children. Sadie and Alex raised their children and enjoyed 50 wonderful years together. Alex Sr. passed away in 1988.
Sadie was a long-time member of the Wilkes-Barre Society of the Deaf, Northeastern Pennsylvania Deaf Catholic Association, and was the oldest alumnus of the former Scranton State School for the Deaf/PSOS. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an original tenant of the City Heights High Rise Apartments in Wilkes-Barre.
Sadie will be remembered for her positive spirit, her strength, her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She loved gatherings with her family and friends and was always asked to bring her signature potato salad and rice pudding! Sadie was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be forever loved and greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Czubek Lindeman, Wilkes-Barre, who was also her caretaker for many years; son Cyril Ferrance and wife Victoria, Throop; son Robert Ferrance and partner Shelly, Askam; and daughter-in-law, Joanie Ferrance, Houston, TX. She also is survived by her loving grandchildren; Tabitha Seigle (husband Phil), Todd Czubek (wife Janey), Robert Ferrance, Dennis Alcott Czubek, Stacy Tripp (husband Eric), Gabriel Lindeman, Jeffrey Ferrance, and Carrie Lindeman. She was also fortunate to have eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and brothers, Sadie was preceded in death by her son, Alex Ferrance, Jr. and her grandson, Chris Ferrance.
Private Services were entrusted to the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
