Ruth Inge Knoesel Guillory left to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 14, 2016. She was reunited with her best friend Anni, who she lived with most of her life and passed away in June. “Mutti” lived 83 inspiring years and fought a brave battle to say goodbye to her four daughters, 11 grandchildren and 18 grandchildren on her own terms.
She left her hometown of Bremerhaven, Germany in 1963 with Anni, and her children Rose, Birgit, Andrea, and Petra. She lived a very difficult life growing up in Germany during World War II and Ruth’s greatest hope was to become an American citizen and give her children a brighter future. She accomplished both of those things.
Ruth was adored by her family and in her final days at home, she was surrounded by their love as they gathered around her bed sharing the legacy of wisdom and happy memories that will stay with the family forever.
It was easy to point out which home was hers on the block by the shiny, waxed porch with all the dwarves on it. You wouldn’t dare drop a piece of paper on her sidewalk or even worse, spit – which she considered an imprisonable offense.
As a grandmother, she had a way of making each grandchild feel special and unique, and she would never yell—except of course if you were wasting your food or you interrupted her during her favorite soap opera, General Hospital.
For her neighbors, who she would occasionally need to ask for help with repairs, she would reward them with something she felt was more valuable than money, and give them a case of beer.
She was a bright light in her Bible Study group which met regularly at her home.
She was affectionately known and referred to as ‘Mutti,’ which means ‘mom’ in German. This is the term that best describes her.
We’ll love you forever; we’ll like you for always; as long as we’re living, our Mutti, you’ll be.
She is survived by her children, Rose (Joe) Hoyt, Birgit (Kevin) Bond, Andrea Kyle, Petra (John) Plucenik – her eleven grandchildren, Jennifer (Chris) Hoyt Lalli, Joseph Hoyt, Jamie (Dave) Miller Bechtel, Kevin Bond, Kayla Bond, River Kyle, Daniel (Catherine) Salvaterra, Drena (Michael) Salvaterra Spatharos, Joshua (Holly) Salvaterra, Rachael Salvaterra, and John Plucenik Jr. – her eighteen great grandchildren, Tristan Lalli and Milla Lalli; Kyra Bechtel and Jacob Bechtel; Jace Dossett; Alessandro Salvaterra, Dominick Salvaterra, Daniel Salvaterra Jr. and Noah Salvaterra; Frank Spatharos, Ava Spatharos and Mea Spatharos; Kyle Homnack, Makayla Potsko, Joshua Salvaterra Jr., John Salvaterra and Giavanna Salvaterra; and Cory Buck Jr. – her siblings, brother, Ernst Otto (Gudrun) Knoesel, and nephew, Larry Knoesel, from Port-CQ Canada; sister, Marion (Jose) Belen from Coon Rapids, Minnesota and nieces, Christine Oberhelman, Patricia Ramirez, Loriann Novak, and Angela Myers.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Herta Knoesel Keitel, father, Ernst Knoesel, brother, Manfreid Keitel, husband, Herman Guillory and her best friend, (sister) Anni Feterle.
