Ruth H. Golias, 73, a resident of Luzerne Towers, and formerly of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday morning, December 08, 2016, at the Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter, where she had been a guest the past four months.
Her beloved husband was the late Thomas G. Golias Sr., who passed away on January 09, 1989.
Born on September 03, 1943, in Kingston, Ruth was one of seven children born to the late Valentine and Mary (Skiendziel) Gavlick.
Raised in Swoyersville, Ruth was a graduate of the former West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1961.
Ruth was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
A woman of many enjoyments, Ruth especially enjoyed playing Bingo, going to the Mohegan Sun, taking trips to various beaches, and extending her love to animals. Above all, her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her loving family.
The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Lanning Anselmi and his staff, as well as the staff at the Highland Manor for the outstanding care they provided Ruth. The family would also like to thank Ruth’s many friends from Luzerne Towers for their constant support and well wishes.
Ruth is survived by her sons, Thomas Golias and his wife, Jayme, Illinois; and Michael Golias, Luzerne; her grandchildren, Tyler Sipes and Nicholas Golias; her great-grandchildren, Carson Sipes and Jaycee Wallin; her brothers, Valentine Gavlick, Ohio; Richard Gavlick, Delaware; and Joseph Gavlick, Delaware; her sisters, Mary Ann Torkelson, Delaware; Lorraine Cannon, Shavertown; and Arlene Adamchak, Swoyersville; her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne.
A private family interment service will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
