Robert T. Pointon, 94, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Tiffany Court at Kingston, where he was recently a resident.
His beloved wife was the late Sophie Ann Skrainy Pointon, who passed away on October 01, 2021. Together, Robert and Sophie shared 69 years of marriage.
Born on July 19, 1929, in West Wyoming, Robert was one of six children born to the late Thomas Pointon and Hattie Baker Pointon.
Raised in West Wyoming, Robert was a graduate of the former West Wyoming High School, Class of 1947.
A United States Army veteran, Robert honorably served his country for a short time during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, Robert was employed for over 30 years as a procurement specialist for the Eastern Penn Supply Company, Wilkes-Barre.
Robert was a past member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, and following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to his parents, Thomas and Hattie, and his wife, Sophie, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Pointon; and his sisters, Helen Giberson, Dorothy Dailey, Irene Camberson, and Charlotte Dailey.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Robert Pointon and his wife, Nancy, Gibsonia, PA, and their children, Alexandra Pointon and her children, Vivienne Hartle and Harry Hartle; Nicholas Pointon and his wife, Kathleen, and their son, Frederick Pointon; and Lucas Pointon; and Richard Pointon and his wife, Cheryl, Warner Robbins, Georgia, and Cheryl’s children, Tia Schreyer and Ryan Schreyer; as well as his nieces and nephews.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, the viewing and funeral service will be private for his immediate family. A Blessing Service will be celebrated by the Reverend Father John J. Chmil, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
