Robert S. Kopec CPA, 73, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His loving wife is Helen (Baron) Kopec. Together, Robert and Helen celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 25th.
Born on August 04, 1945, in Wilkes-Barre, Robert was one of two sons born to the late Steven and Jennie (Gonglefski) Kopec.
Raised in Swoyersville, Robert was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1963. He went on to further his education at Wilkes College, now Wilkes University, where in 1969, he received his Bachelors Degree in Accounting and Business. He received his certification to practice as a Certified Public Accountant in 1976.
Robert began his career working for Casimer Sieminski CPA. After some time, he was given the opportunity to buy the business from Mr. Sieminski, and after assuming control of the business, he changed the name of the firm to Robert S. Kopec CPA, operating his business on Pierce Street, Kingston. Robert retired on January 01, 2017, and the business now operates under the name of Kopec Associates.
An avid golfer, Robert was a member of Fox Hill Country Club, Exeter and a former member of Irem Temple Country Club, Dallas, and he was fortunate to have two holes-in-one throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Steven and Jennie Kopec, Robert was preceded in death by his brother, Richard J. Kopec.
In addition to his wife, Helen, Robert is survived by his son, Mark Kopec and his wife, Meredith Kreczmer-Kopec, Wilmington, North Carolina; as well as his in-laws, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation which will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
Private Interment will be in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.
