Robert “Ozzy” Williams, 64, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, May 21, 2013, at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
His loving wife is Sandra E. (Vozniak) Williams. Together, Ozzy and Sandi celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary on September 14, 2012.
Born on July 24, 1948, in Wilkes-Barre, Ozzy was the son of Kathryn (Roberts) Williams, of Ashley and the late Robert J. Williams.
Raised in Ashley, Ozzy was a graduate of the former Ashley-Sugar Notch High School, Class of 1966.
A United States Air Force veteran, Ozzy honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Throughout his time of service, he was decorated with the Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. Upon his honorable discharge on July 10, 1970, Ozzy attained the rank of Sergeant.
For over 30 years, Ozzy had been employed by Bridon American Corporation, Hanover Township.
Ozzy was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville, where he served on the Board of Directors.
Active in many organizations, Ozzy was a member of the Paradise Social Club, Swoyersville; the Lithuanian Club, Exeter; the Wyoming Hose Company; the Hawkeye Athletic Club; and the Ashley Children’s Trout Derby. Additionally, he was a past member of the former Bucktail Lodge.
Ozzy had many enjoyments in life, especially hunting, fishing, socializing with his many friends and supporting the fundraisers at Saint Joseph’s Center. He loved going on walks with his son, Robbie and boating and fishing with his son, Dennis. He also enjoyed football and baseball and was a great fan of the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Yankees.
A loving and devoted family man, Ozzy treasured the time he had with his loved ones. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. His presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
In addition to his wife, Sandi and his mother, Kathryn, Ozzy is survived by his son, Robbie Williams, a resident of Saint Joseph’s Center, Scranton; his step-son, Dennis Perfetto and his wife Sue, of Williamson, New York; his brother, Harry Williams and his wife Linda, of Ashley; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Blessing Service which will be celebrated on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at 9:30 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Mr. George Mochin, Jr., Deacon of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Swoyersville, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
