Robert M. “Bob” Tobias, 81, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2022, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, following a brief illness.
Born on June 28, 1941, in Swoyersville, Bob was one of two children born to the late Joseph S. Tobias and Mary Margaret Asklar Tobias.
A lifelong resident of Swoyersville, Bob was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1959.
Prior to his retirement, Bob spent his career as a construction equipment salesman.
A man of great faith, Bob was a lifelong member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Bob had many enjoyments in life, especially classic cars, and, in his earlier years, boating and scuba diving. He was proud to acquire his pilot’s license, and was a staunch Republican who always enjoyed a fair political debate. He reveled in the “good old days of wine and roses” and told countless people that he had enough stories to write a book.
Above all, Bob was happiest spending time with his family and friends. He recently spoke of his life and how he felt he had a good run during his time here. Although his presence will be deeply missed, he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, cousin, companion, and friend.
In addition to his parents, Joseph and Mary Tobias, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Florence E. Dezagottis.
Bob is survived by his loving companion of 23 years, Carol Kasper, Swoyersville; his brother-in-law, James Dezagottis Jr., Mechanicsburg; his three nephews, James Dezagottis III, who was his Godson, and his wife, Judy, Annville; Mark Dezagottis and his wife, Linda, Purcellville, Virginia; and Jon Dezagottis, New Cumberland; his great-niece, Robin Dezagottis; his great-nephew, Kevin Dezagottis; as well as his cousins and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bob’s viewing which will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.
