Robert B. “Bob” Kubasti, 90, formerly of Beech Street, Swoyersville, passed into eternal life early Monday morning, April 13, 2026, at the home of his daughter, Connie, in Tuscarora, where he resided the past few years.
His beloved wife of 55 years was the late Carol B. Zimmerman Kubasti who passed away on September 23, 2017.
Born on July 20, 1935, in Swoyersville, Bob was one of five children born to the late Joseph Kubasti and Victoria H. Swierczek Kubasti.
Raised in Dallas Township, Bob was a graduate of the former Dallas Township High School, Class of 1952.
A United States Army veteran, Bob honorably served his country for two years during peacetime.
Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed for 30 years as a psychiatric nursing assistant for the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
A man of faith, Bob was a past member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville, and following its closure, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Famous for his handlebar mustache, Bob was known by many as “Mustache Bob,” even using that nickname as his CB handle. He was also famous for his horseradish and potato pancakes, and his unique sense of humor and way of making people always feel welcome. Of his many enjoyments, he especially enjoyed cooking, gardening around his home, dining at various buffet style restaurants, watching the History Channel and, in his younger days, riding his motorcycle. Although he could have a tough exterior, at his core he was a devoted family man who loved his family with all his heart.
In addition to his parents, Joseph and Victoria, and his wife, Carol, Bob was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Donna Marie Kubasti; his brothers, Richard, Joseph, and Edward Kubasti; and his sister, Dorothy Butler.
Left to cherish his memory are his three children, Daniel Kubasti and his wife, Lisa, Shickshinny; Connie Hacker and her husband, Dwayne, Tuscarora; and Tammy Nutaitis and her fiancé, Ed Tonkin, Dallas; his seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
