Regina T. “Gina” (Musto) Hawk, 79, a resident of Pittston Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday afternoon, February 03, 2016, at Post Acute Hospital at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her husband, the love of her life, was the late Joseph J. Hawk Sr., who passed away on April 07, 2014. Together, Joe and Gina shared 50 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on August 02, 1936, in Pittston Township, Regina was the daughter of the late Dominick and Mary (Kennedy) Musto.
Raised in the Pittston area, Gina was a graduate of the former Pittston Township High School, Class of 1955.
As a child, Gina worked at her family’s business, Musto’s Store, and helped her mother sell fresh fruits at the Pittston Farmers Market.
Later in life, Gina worked at the Comerford Drive-In Theater, Dupont, and also worked in the local garment and cigar factories.
In 1963, when Gina married her beloved Joe, she became a proud Air Force wife, traveling the country with her husband. Following his honorable discharge from the service, the couple settled in Swoyersville until the Agnes Flood of 1972 destroyed their home. In 1974, they settled in Pittston Township, where she continued to do the job she was most proud of – being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Gina is survived by her son, Dominick Hawk, Sr. and his wife Jennie, and grandson Dominick, Jr., and great-grandson, Noah; her daughter, Mary Jo Gavlick and her husband Donnie, and granddaughter, Melanie and grandson, Davey; her son, Joseph J. Hawk, Jr, and his wife Katie, and granddaughter, Stella.
Gina is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Balucha, as well as her numerous nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to their family doctor and friend, Dr. Charles Manganiello, as well as the staff of the Post Acute Hospital at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, especially nurse, Angie, for the excelled care they provided Gina during her time of need.
