Pearl T. Stanishefski, 94, a longtime resident of Sidney Street, Swoyersville, and most recently a guest at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal life on Tuesday morning, July 04, 2017, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Her beloved husband was the late Stanley J. Stanishefski, who passed away on June 27, 2004. Together, Stanley and Pearl shared 61 beautiful years of marriage.

Born on November 29, 1922, in Swoyersville, Pearl was one of six children born to the late Adolf and Mary (Katchmar) Surgenevich.

Pearl received her education at the former Swoyersville High School, and was a lifelong resident of Swoyersville prior to becoming a guest at the Riverstreet Manor.

Prior to her retirement, Pearl was employed as a sewing machine operator for the former Nelson Manufacturing Company, Wyoming. In her earlier years, she was employed as a seamstress for the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville.

A devout Catholic, Pearl was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.

Pearl was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.

A woman of many enjoyments, Pearl especially enjoyed listening to Polka’s and tending to her vegetable garden.

Pearl was an affectionate, loving and happy person who was vivacious until the end. Her family was the center of her life and she cherished every moment she had with her loved ones. She held a special place in her heart for each of her nieces and nephews, and she was blessed to share a close bond with each of them.  

In addition to her parents, Adolf and Mary Surgenevich, and her husband, Stanley, Pearl was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph and Frank Surgenevich; and her sisters, Irene Belinka and Marcella Kotchik.

Pearl is survived by her brother, Al Surgan and his wife, Bernadine, Swoyersville; her nieces and caregivers, Lisa Romanelli and her husband, Christopher; Lori Shatley and her husband, Scott; and Cheryl Wallitsch; her sisters-in-law, Frances (Stanishefski) Kepich, Exeter; and Dorothy Stanishefski, Kingston; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, July 08, 2017, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
