Paul Stephen Suda Jr., 67, a resident of Dupont, passed away on Saturday morning, October 07, 2023, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.
Born on October 11, 1955, in Kingston, he was the son of the late Paul Suda and Martha (Jenziorski) Suda.
Raised in Swoyersville, Paul was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1973. During high school he competed in state wrestling tournaments and was a member of the gymnastics team.
A carpenter by trade, Paul specialized in detailed woodworking and cabinet making in which he excelled.
Paul was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont.
Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing softball. He was a huge Elvis fan and above everything, loved spending time with his family. Each summer “Uncle Paul” would surprise his great-nephews with cans of silly string for the annual Silly String Battle.
His sense of humor, positive attitude, and eagerness to help others are a few of the traits that made him loved by people that met him.
In addition to his parents, Paul and Martha, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle (Suda) Kalmanowicz.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Stephenie Suda, Kingston; his sisters, Helene (Suda) Becker and her husband, Dave, Swoyersville; and Mary Ellen (Suda) Walton and her husband, Brent, Renton, Washington; his brother-in-law, Thad Kalmanowicz and his wife, Margaret Ellen, Kennedyville, Maryland; his nieces, Jana (Kalmanowicz) Stockhausen and her husband, Gabe; and Erin (Kalmanowicz) Aguilar and her husband, Ever; his nephews, Michael Kalmanowicz and his wife, Amanda; Darren Cheskiewicz; Logan Walton; Mitchell Walton; and Benjamin Becker; his great-nephews, Jonathan, Elijah, and Tristan Stockhausen; Chase and Zane Aguilar; and Mitchell and Brayden Kalmanowicz; as well as his numerous cousins and friends.
Paul’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes Barre for their compassionate and gentle care of Paul during his final days. They are also very appreciative of the empathy and kindness shown to them.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation which will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, followed by a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 AM. The Reverend Father John J. Chmil, Pastor, will be the celebrant.
