Paul L. Knecht Jr., 82, a resident of Kingston Township, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at his home.
Born on September 12, 1938, in Kingston, Paul was the son of the late Paul L. Knecht Sr. and Jean (Shiner) Knecht.
Paul was a graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School, Class of 1956.
A United States Marine Corps veteran, Paul honorably served his country for four years during the Vietnam War, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, Paul was a self-employed as a general contractor, and in his earlier years was employed by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.
Paul was a member of the Luzerne Assembly of God; the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville; and the Lithuanian Citizens Club, Inkerman.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Paul and Jean Knecht, Paul was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Lee Knecht; his sister, Dorothy Knecht Mendocha; and his beloved dog, Missy.
Paul is survived by his two children, Paul L. Knecht III, Wilkes-Barre; and Marissa Knecht Gaughan, Wilkes-Barre; and his four grandchildren, Gary, Justin, and Gabriella Gaughan; and Christopher Knecht.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at T C Riley’s Pub & Inn, 405 Carverton Road, Wyoming.
