Paul J. Roberts Sr., 94, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life on Wednesday afternoon, January 22, 2025, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His beloved wife of 56 years was the late Edna M. Bushinski Roberts who passed away on June 06, 2009.
Born on November 11, 1930, in Edwardsville, Paul was the son of the late John Roberts and Catherine Kosek Roberts Handley.
Raised in Edwardsville, Paul was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School, Class of 1948.
A United States Army veteran, Paul honorably served his country for 4 years during the Korean War, and, upon his honorable discharge, he attained the rank of sergeant.
Following his military service, Paul worked for General Motors, near Buffalo, New York, eventually returning to the Wyoming Valley. Upon his return in 1960, he was hired as a police officer for the Borough of Kingston, being appointed Sergeant in 1980 and Chief of Police in 1989, retiring from the police force in 1991. He was proud to have been able to serve the Borough of Kingston and its residents for 31 years.
Paul enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City with his family. He also enjoyed serving as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels with his wife, Edna. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends. Like his wife, he was a kind and caring gentleman who always put the needs of others above his own.
