Patrick D. Meade, 68, a resident of Forty Fort, entered into eternal life on Saturday morning, November 26, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, surrounded by his beloved family.
His loving wife is Susan A. (Zalonis) Meade. Patrick and Susan would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on December 11th.
Born on December 15, 1947, in Ashland, Patrick was one of seven children born to the late John Francis and Margaret (Collins) Meade.
Raised in Schuylkill County, Patrick was a graduate of Mahanoy Area High School.
Prior to his retirement, Patrick was the proprietor of Sam Creations, Hometown. In his earlier years, he was a licensed life insurance agent for the American General Life Insurance Company, and also worked in the Baseball Card Division of Topps Company, Inc., Duryea.
A man of great faith, Patrick was a member of Living Hope Bible Church, Plains Township.
An avid sports enthusiast, Patrick was a great fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, attending a countless number of their football games over the past 30 years. Additionally, he coached Softball and sat on the Forty Fort Little League Board for many years.
Patrick was one of the kindest, generous and compassionate people one would ever meet. His love and zest for life was evident by his outgoing personality, and he strived to make everyone around him feel welcome and cared for.
Family was the center of Patrick’s life and he cherished and valued every moment he had with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and extended family. Patrick always expressed how his grandchildren were the greatest accomplishment in his life! He was so very proud of each of his grandchildren’s accomplishments, and he never missed one of their sporting events, school functions, or family functions. Although his presence will be greatly missed, he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
The family wishes to extend their most sincere thanks to the following: Dr. Nainesh Patel and his nurse practitioner, Alma Ohl, from Lehigh Valley Medical Center’s Cardiology Department; Dr. James Galasso III and his staff, most especially Lois; The nurses and staff from Bayada Home Health Care; and lastly, the doctors, nurses and staff from Celtic Healthcare Hospice. The genuine care and concern each one of you has shown to Patrick and his family will never be forgotten!
In addition to his parents, John Francis and Margaret Meade, Patrick was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Mary “Maggie” Meade; and his brother, Daniel Meade.
In addition to his wife, Susan, Patrick is survived by his daughters, Jessica Heckman and her husband, William, Forty Fort, and Katy Meade and her fiancé, Michael Sciandra, Forty Fort; his five grandchildren, Paige, Avary, Madilyn Claire, and William Patrick Heckman; and Lucy Rose Sciandra; his brothers, Francis Meade and his wife, Joan, Coatesville, and Edward Meade and his wife, Annette, Forty Fort; his sisters, Elizabeth Rybski and her husband, Peter, Manville, New Jersey; and Alma Osenbach, Mahanoy Plane; as well as his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Patrick’s viewing which will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. A service will commence at 8:00 PM with the Reverend Mark DeSilva, pastor of Living Hope Bible Church, Plains Township, officiating.
A private family funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the funeral home, with the Reverend Mark DeSilva, officiating.
Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Cemetery, Frackville, where Patrick will be laid to rest in his family plot.
