On the morning of Sunday, December 11, 2022, Patricia Ann Sweeney, of Shavertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children and husband after a short illness.
Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Patricia was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Spallino, who was her best friend, and the late Tom Maier.
Raised in New York, Trish was a graduate of Center Moriches High School. After following The Grateful Dead across the country for a few years, she began working at Paul’s Italian Restaurant in Southampton, New York. Upon moving to Pennsylvania in the early 1990’s, she became the chef at Yesterday’s Restaurant in Shavertown. Then becoming a stay-at-home mom, she eventually returned to work at Dr. Brian Miller’s Orthodontist Office in Plains where she was employed for many years.
Trish was passionate about many things in her life such as her love for The Grateful Dead; going to see Strawberry Jam any opportunity she could; riding around in her convertible Volkswagen Bug; and eating shrimp cocktail at Crabby’s in Dallas. An animal lover, Trish adored her cats, Stella and Ruben, and her French Bulldogs, Cassidy and Buddha.
The number one thing she loved more than any live music concert or day at the beach, was being Grandma to her grandchildren, Giovanni who is 4 years old, and Elizabeth who is 2 years old. Every single time she was with them, there was nothing but laughs, hugs and kisses.
Left to carry on her memory are her husband, John Sweeney; her daughters, Karli-Rose Cimino, Larksville; and Lily Cimino, Wilkes-Barre; and her grandchildren Giovanni Barbose and Elizabeth Barbose, both of Larksville.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation which will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. A Blessing Service will be celebrated on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 PM by the Reverend Father James J. Paisley, Pastor of Saint Therese Church, Shavertown.
Entombment will be held on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
The family kindly requests that those attending the services for Trish not to wear black. Those who knew Trish knew she was always wearing her tie-dye dresses and turquoise jewelry, and she would not want us to grieve. She would want everyone “jammin’” to The Grateful Dead and remembering her with fond memories.
