In the early morning hours of Friday, April 26, 2024, our beloved mother and grandmother, Patricia Ann Santioni, 81, a resident of Old Forge, peacefully entered into eternal rest at Commonwealth Health – Regional Hospital of Scranton, following a brief illness.
Her beloved husband was the late Joseph Santioni, who passed away on October 11, 2020. Together, Joseph and Patricia shared 58 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on August 27, 1942, in Pittston, Patricia was one of two children born to the late Alfred Nawrocki and Florence Jaworski Nawrocki.
Raised in Duryea, Patricia was a graduate of the former Duryea Senior High School, Class of 1959.
A devoted homemaker most of her life, Patricia worked for some time as a seamstress in the local garment industry.
Patricia was a faithful Catholic and a member of Prince of Peace Parish, Saint Mary of the Assumption Church, Old Forge.
A woman of many enjoyments, Patricia greatly enjoyed traveling with her husband, with their favorite trips being to Italy and Las Vegas, Nevada. She also enjoyed attending auctions with her husband; cooking and baking for her family; trying her luck at casinos; and playing Pitch with her card group.
Above all, Patricia’s greatest joy in life came from her family. As the matriarch of her family, her daughters and grandchildren always looked to her for her guidance and wise counsel. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life and she treasured the years she spent watching them as children.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Patricia’s caregiver, Karen, for the wonderful home care she provided. They wish to also extend their gratitude to the Intensive Care Unit staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton, most especially nurses, Rita, Cara, Gabby, and Hazel, for all they did to ensure Patricia’s comfort during her final days.
In addition to her parents, Alfred and Florence Nawrocki, and her husband, Joseph, Patricia was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Leo Hennigan Jr., who passed away on April 21, 1998; and her nephew, Michael Nawrocki, who passed away on September 06, 1998.
Left to cherish her memory are her three devoted daughters, René Hennigan and her companion, Gerard Mennella, Wilkes-Barre; Sue Harris and her husband, Bobby, Old Forge; and Lizz Santioni and her companion, Tony Biago Jr., Old Forge; her adoring grandchildren, Annie Dillon and her husband Jason; Kayla Marie Hughes; Leo Hennigan III and his companion, Mara; and Troy Joseph Harris; her beloved brother, Bernard Nawrocki and his wife, Judith, Port St. Lucie, Florida; and her nieces and nephews.
