Patricia ‘Pat’ Amato, 83, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Sunday morning, November 09, 2025, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her loving husband is Anthony ‘Tony’ Amato. Together, Tony and Pat shared 65 years together and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on June 6th.
Born on October 04, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, Pat was the only daughter born to the late Alexander Zaniewski and Mary Molitoris Zaniewski.
Raised in Plains Township, Pat was a graduate of the former Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1960, and furthered her education at the former Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Prior to her retirement in 2003, Pat was employed as a loan officer for First Liberty Bank and Trust, Pittston. In her earlier years, she was employed by First Eastern Bank, later PNC Bank, Wilkes-Barre.
A woman of deep faith, Pat was a longtime member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, and, following its closing she became a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
The quintessential homemaker, Pat loved decorating her home both inside and out, as well as gardening around her home. She also greatly enjoyed painting ceramics; watching Hallmark movies – especially at Christmastime; shopping at Boscov’s and buying produce at the Wilkes-Barre Farmers Market with the love of her life, Tony, and her best buddy, Mary Falzone; and dancing with her loved ones. She was also known for her love of Winnie the Pooh with Tigger always being her favorite character.
Above all, Pat was happiest being surrounded by the love of her family – her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson were the center of her life, and she treasured every moment she shared with each of them. She leaves behind a legacy of enduring love – a legacy which will be cherished forever in the hearts of her loved ones.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Anthony, and their three children, Maria Kovaleski and her husband, Joseph, Swoyersville; Lisa Lecce and her husband, Kevin, Plymouth; and Joseph Amato and his wife, Jennifer, Forty Fort; her seven grandchildren, Christopher Kovaleski and his wife, Samantha; Bryanna Borden and her husband, Connor; Alexandra Smith-Lecce and her wife, Summer; Nikolas Lecce and his companion, Alyssa Cadman; Sara Lecce and her companion, Nicholas Duerr; Samantha Miko and her husband, Christopher; and Toni Amato and her fiancé, Zegary Scott III; her great-grandson, Nolan Kovaleski; and her dog, Mylo.
