Nancy L. Bankus, 88, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life quietly on Thursday evening, April 27, 2023, at the Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility of the Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Township, where she was a guest since December.
Her beloved husband was the late John Stephen Bankus, who passed away on August 04, 2015. John and Nancy were blessed to share 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on September 06, 1934, in Larksville, Nancy was one of four children born to the late Frank E. Burgess and Edna Mae Crispell Burgess.
Raised in Forty Fort, Nancy was a graduate of the former Forty Fort High School, Class of 1952.
After her marriage to John, Nancy devoted her life to being a homemaker for her beloved family. As her children were being raised, she was member of the PTA of the former Franklin Street Grade School, Wilkes-Barre, and was later granted a life-membership of its PTA for all she did to help the school.
A woman of great faith, Nancy had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. A longtime, devout member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, Nancy became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, following the consolidation of her church.
Nancy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as cooking for her family; entertaining family and friends at her home, especially at the holidays; playing card games, especially pinochle; and watching the “old movies” on her favorite station, Turner Classic Movies.
Above all, Nancy’s family brought her the greatest joy throughout her life, and she treasured every moment she shared with her loved ones. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she reveled in each of their accomplishments. Although her presence will be missed beyond measure, there is joy in knowing she is now at peace in Heaven basking in the glory of her Lord and his Most Blessed Mother alongside her beloved husband and all those who were awaiting her arrival there.
In addition to her parents, Frank and Edna Burgess, and her husband, John S. Bankus, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Burgess.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory are her two children, Donna Moser and her husband, Thomas, Tallassee, Florida; and John F. Bankus and his wife, Judith, Wyoming; her three grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Moser and her husband, Andreas Hagberg; Matthew Moser and his wife, Casey; and John Bankus and his fiancée, Abigail Kayes; her three great-grandchildren, Jovie Moser, Madisyn Moser, and Autumn Moser; her two brothers, David Burgess and his wife, Florence, Harding; and Joseph Burgess and his wife, Terri (Theresa), West Wyoming; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, May 04, 2023, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend Nancy’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, May 03, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
