Nancy H. Palmentere, 82, a resident of Tripp Street, Forty Fort, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by her loved ones, on Monday afternoon, December 09, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Nancy and her husband, Joseph P. Palmentere Sr., celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 12th.
Born on August 07, 1942, in Kingston, Nancy was one of two children born to the late Thomas D. Hatten and Mildred M. Kaminski Hatten.
Raised in Kingston, Nancy was a graduate of the former Kingston High School, Class of 1960.
Immediately after high school, Nancy began her career in the accounting department of the Bell Telephone Company, working for 15 years both in Wilkes-Barre and Kingston, eventually leaving the workforce to be a full-time stay-at-home mom to her three children. Once her children were older, she began working for the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre, retiring from there after 23 years of service.
A woman of faith with a special devotion to Saint Ann, Nancy was a longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne, and, following its closure, became a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
Quiet and reserved, Nancy enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. When she wasn’t volunteering with her children’s activities and at their school, she enjoyed reading on her front porch, attending the theatre, and traveling with her family, especially to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Nancy’s life was centered around her family. Not only did she pause her career to care for her children, she retired to help raise her two cherished granddaughters. She was, without a doubt, the epitome of a loving, caring and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
The family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Circle of Life Home Care, Kingston, for the loving care they bestowed upon not only Nancy but her family over the past few months – your kindness will never be forgotten. They wish to also thank the staff from Allied Services Hospice for their outstanding care during Nancy’s final days.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joseph, and their three children, Tara P. Sears and her husband, Covar, Kingston Township; Joseph P. Palmentere Jr., Forty Fort; Larisa A. Palmentere and her partner, Darin O’Neal, Portland, Oregon; and Heidi L. McGinley, King of Prussia, who Nancy came to love as one of her own; her two granddaughters, Caroline J. Sears and Olivia M. Sears; her brother, Thomas M. Hatten and his wife, Marcia, Philadelphia; as well as her nieces and nephews, especially Michelle Palmentere, who was a great source of care and comfort to Joe and Nancy during Nancy’s final months.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Nancy’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with Monsignor David L. Tressler, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
In accordance with Nancy’s wishes, the viewing will be private for her family members.
