Mildred “Millie” Potichko, 90, a resident of Luzerne, passed into eternal life on Thursday afternoon, June 21, 2018, at the Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Exeter.
Her beloved husband was the late Michael Potichko, who passed away on October 07, 1974. Michael and Millie were married on June 03, 1950, and together shared 24 years of marriage.
Born on October 10, 1927, in Luzerne, Mildred was one of three children born to the late Peter and Jennie (Kolar) Dimick.
Raised in West Wyoming, Millie was a graduate of the former West Wyoming High School, Class of 1946.
In 1952, Millie and her husband, Michael, moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey. Millie resided there with her son, Michael, until 1991 when they returned to our local area.
A devoted homemaker most of her life, Millie also worked in the cafeteria at RCA/MCI, Piscataway, New Jersey, and as a clerk for Pantry Quick Market, at its former location in Forty Fort.
Millie was an exceptional baker, an avid crafter, and an extraordinary crocheter. Her expertise in crocheting was truly unrivaled, and many of her family members and friends were the recipients of her crocheted pieces.
A great fan of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Millie and her son, Michael, attended a countless number of hockey games over the years.
Above all, Millie was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. Although her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her beloved family.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Jennie Dimick, and her husband, Michael, Millie was also preceded in death by her brother, Sam Dimick; and her sister, Ann Dick.
Millie is survived by her loving son, Michael Potichko, Luzerne; her sisters-in-law, Rosalie Oko, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; and Grace Dimick, West Wyoming; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Millie’s funeral service which will be conducted on Monday, June 25, 2018, at 11:30 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
Family and Friends are invited to Millie’s viewing which will be held on Monday morning, from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, at the funeral home.
