Michael R. Kurilla, 59, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, July 25, 2013, at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
His loving wife is Kathy (Kocher) Kurilla. Together, Michael and Kathy shared 35 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on May 12, 1954, in Kingston, Michael was the son of the late John and Julia (Hetro) Kurilla.
Michael was a graduate of the former Central Catholic High School, Kingston, Class of 1972. Following high school, Michael furthered his education at King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, where he acquired his Bachelor’s Degree.
Michael was employed by Pulverman, Dallas, as their Quality Assurance Manager. In his earlier years, Michael was employed for 21 years at Muskin Leisure Products, Wilkes-Barre. Additionally, he was previously employed for some time by Flextronics, formerly of Kingston.
Michael was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
Family was the center of Michael’s life and he treasured every moment he had with his loved ones. His presence will be deeply missed but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, John and Julia Kurilla, Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, Andrew, John, Joseph and Frank Kurilla; his sister, Mary Nardone.
In addition to his wife, Kathy, Michael is survived by his daughters, Kristi Skovronski and her husband, John, of Wyoming; Susan Kurilla, of Swoyersville and Jessica Kurilla, of Philadelphia; his mother-in-law, Hildegard Kocher, of Shavertown; his brother-in-law, Sam Nardone, of Old Boston; his sister-in-law, Rita Kurilla, of Exeter; his numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Charlie.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Those attending the funeral service are kindly asked to assemble directly at the church on Tuesday morning, as there will be no procession from the funeral home to the church.
Interment will privately follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
