Michael John Wisdo, 79, formerly of Simpson Street, Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at River Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, where he was recently a guest.
Born on October 04, 1938, in Wilkes-Barre, Michael was one of three children born to the late Michael and Mary E. (Rapczynski) Wisdo.
Raised in Swoyersville, Michael was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1956. He furthered his education at Bloomsburg State Teachers College, now Bloomsburg University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1961. He later went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Science from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1970.
A United States Navy veteran, Michael honorably served his country for 2 ½ years during peacetime.
Prior to his retirement, Michael was employed for many years as a History Teacher for the Port Chester School System, Port Chester, New York. After his retirement, he returned to his hometown of Swoyersville to live out the rest of his days.
A faithful Catholic, Michael was a longtime member of the former Holy Name of Jesus Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Michael was a member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville, and was also an active volunteer at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to his parents, Michael and Mary Wisdo, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine L. Zekas.
Michael is survived by his brother, Robert Wisdo and his wife, Henrietta, Wilkes-Barre; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, December 01, 2017, at 9:30 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Thursday, November 30, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
