Melinda Ann Favata, 54, a resident of Wyoming, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Her loving husband is Matthew P. Favata. Matthew and Melinda built a wonderful life together, sharing 29 years of marriage. Their greatest accomplishment was the beautiful family they created.
Born on May 15, 1967, in Wellsboro, Melinda was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Burton) Ryan.
Raised in Erie, Melinda was a graduate of McDowell High School, Class of 1985. After graduation, she moved to Luzerne County where she met the love of her life and best friend, Matthew Favata.
Melinda enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, and anything that kept her hands busy. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family – her life was her family, and her family was her life! She spent most of her life caring for others, always putting their needs before her own. Everyone that knew her would remark that she was the most amazing, beautiful, loving, and selfless woman one could ever meet.
In addition to her husband, Matthew, Melinda is survived by her three children, Jessica (CJ Simon) Favata, Scranton; Jackie (John) Sitnick, West Wyoming; and Joe Hossage, Virginia Beach, Virginia; her granddaughter, Harper Simon, Scranton; her five siblings, Todd (Andrew Severo) Burton, Christopher (Margaret) Burton, Timothy (Shannon Gilchrist) Ryan, Stacy Ryan, and Kelly (Wes) Haist, all of Erie; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Suzanne Favata and Samuel Favata; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony (Erin) Favata; as well as her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A private Celebration of Melinda’s Life will be held at a later date.
