Mary Lisa Lada, 67, a resident of Larksville, passed into eternal life on Wednesday evening, April 29, 2026, in the comfort of her home following a courageously well-fought 14-year battle with inflammatory breast cancer.
Her loving husband is Joseph T. Lada with whom Mary Lisa would have celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on June 8th.
Born on November 04, 1958, in Kingston, Mary Lisa was the only daughter born to Esther Miozza Hannon, Wilkes-Barre, and the late Daniel W. Hannon, who passed away on April 14, 1984.
Raised in Kingston, Mary Lisa was a graduate of West-Side Vocational Technical School, Class of 1976.
Prior to her retirement, Mary Lisa was employed for over 40 years by the Luzerne County Housing Authority, holding various positions including Project Manager; Tenant Selection Supervisor; and ending her career as Fiscal Administrative Officer.
Mary Lisa was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, Kingston – her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a strong advocate of Candy’s Place, now The Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA, serving on its Board, assisting with countless fundraisers, and participating in a host of activities. She also held membership with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs – West Side, Kingston, serving as its Past President from 2002 to 2004; Camp Bravehearts Oncology Camp for Women; and Livestrong for Cancer Survivors.
Known for her bright, vivacious and fun-loving personality, Mary Lisa’s zest for life was insatiable – she was the life of the party and made friends wherever she went. She had a passion for travel, visiting Europe and the Caribbean, and was most at ease sitting on a beach or in her backyard oasis by the pool. She had a lifelong love of dancing and, in her earlier years, danced with the Bob Niznik Dance Company.
Mary Lisa lived for her family – her husband, sons, and grandchildren were her everything and when it came to being a Nonna, she was the very best there ever was. Her departure to Heaven leaves this world a bit dim but as flights of Angels sang her to her well-deserved rest, Heaven became a much brighter place once Mary Lisa arrived there.
The Lada family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to Dr. Bruce Saidman and the entire staff at Medical Oncology Associates for the outstanding care they provided Mary Lisa over the years – your kindness and love for her will never be forgotten. And to all others who assisted Mary Lisa – there are too many to thank but know that if you helped in any way, your encouraging support always lifted her spirits.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Joseph, and their two sons, Jason Lada and his wife, Erin, Shavertown; and Justin Lada, Chesterbrook; two grandchildren, Addison Lada and Jackson Lada, both of Shavertown; her mother, Esther Hannon, Wilkes-Barre; as well as her cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
