Mary Cebrick, 91, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Tuesday evening, December 26, 2017, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre, following a brief illness.
Her beloved husband was the late Paul Cebrick, who passed away on March 11, 2014. Together, Paul and Mary shared 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on December 23, 1926, in Swoyersville, Mary was one of nine children born to the late John and Mary (Rozmus) Konopka.
A lifelong resident of Swoyersville, Mary was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1944.
Prior to her retirement, Mary was employed as a sewing machine operator for various garment manufacturers in the Wyoming Valley.
Mary was a faithful Catholic and a longtime member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville, where she once held membership with the church’s Altar and Rosary Society.
A woman of many enjoyments, Mary especially enjoyed baking for family, sewing, and watching golf and football with her late husband. Above all, Mary’s greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by her loved ones, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Though her presence will be deeply missed, she will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, John and Mary Konopka, and her husband, Paul, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony, Phillip, and John Konopka; her sisters, Sophie Patterson, Caroline Rakos, Josephine Cegilka, and Nellie Zannetti.
Mary is survived by her two children, Barry Cebrick and his wife, Diane, Larksville; and Christine Konnick and her husband, Robert, Forty Fort; her three grandchildren, Christopher Cebrick and his wife, Jennifer; Cassandra Cebrick; and Craig Cebrick and his wife, Janel; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Anthony, Matthew, Aiden, Addison and Gianna; her sister, Anna Stefanko, Swoyersville; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 10:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, 271 Tripp Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Gary Mensinger, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Parastas Services will be celebrated on Friday evening at 7:30 PM, with the Reverend Gary Mensinger, officiating.
