Mary Agnes Stefanski, 92, a resident of Hanover Township, passed into eternal life early Tuesday morning, August 14, 2018, at ManorCare Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, where she was a guest the past few weeks.
She was reunited with her beloved husband, the late Martin J. Stefanski, who passed away on January 09, 1987. Together, Martin and Mary shared 37 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on August 16, 1925, in Wilkes-Barre, Mary was one of four children born to the late James A. and Agnes (Wallace) McCabe.
Raised in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre, Mary was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1943.
Prior to her retirement, Mary served as secretary for her family business, the former Martin J. Stefanski Fuel Oil Company, Kingston.
A faithful Catholic, Mary was a longtime member of Saint Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Parish, Saint Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre, where she held membership with the parish’s Altar and Rosary Society.
Mary was a member of the Wilkes-Barre Lions Club; the Antique Auto Club of NEPA and the Antique Auto Club of America; and the Wilkes-Barre Quota Club, serving as its Past President.
In addition to her parents, James and Agnes McCabe, and her husband, Martin, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, James A. McCabe Jr. and Francis J. McCabe Sr.; and her sister, Claire P. Cochran.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Marylin J. “Mimi” Tosh, Hanover Township; her grandchildren, Megan Wert and her fiancé, William Shook Jr.; David C. Tosh and his wife, Amber; Stephen Tosh and his wife, Jamie; and Brenna Tosh; her great-grandchildren, Kyle and Kaylee Wert; Alexa Tosh; and Delilah Tosh; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 8:45 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish, Saint Aloysius Church, 143 West Division Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Entombment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Family and Friends are invited to Mary’s viewing which will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.
The Wilkes-Barre Lions Club will hold a Service of Remembrance on Sunday at 4:00 PM.
