Mark A. Olejnik, 66, a resident of Swoyersville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, March 15, 2021, at his home, following a brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 18, 1954, in Pittston, Mark was one of three children born to Joseph J. Olejnik, of Swoyersville, and the late Katherine T. “Katie” Krulick Olejnik, who passed away on August 29, 2020.
Raised in Swoyersville, Mark was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1972.
Prior to his retirement in 2020, Mark was employed for 48 years by the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre.
Mark was a lifelong member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Mark had a great love and appreciation for music, and was an accomplished accordionist and guitarist. Most recently, you could find him playing lead guitar with the rock country band, “Hillbilly D’Lux.”
In addition to his mother, Katherine “Katie” Olejnik, Mark was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Krulick and Elizabeth (Shoemaker) Krulick; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph Olejnik and Helen (Zavada) Olejnik.
In addition to his father, Joseph J. Olejnik, Mark is survived by his three children, Justin Olejnik, West Wyoming; Nicholas Olejnik, West Wyoming; and Jessica Olejnik, Boston, Massachusetts; his sister, JoAnn Guido, Wyoming; his brother, Joseph K. Olejnik, Swoyersville; his nephew, Kody Olejnik, Swoyersville; as well an uncle, aunts, and several cousins who meant a lot to him.
The Olejnik Family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Bayada Hospice for the excellent care they provided Mark during his time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation which will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating. Family and Friends may assemble directly at the church on Tuesday morning.
Private Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
