Marion Thoman, affectionally known as “Tootsie”, 93, a resident of the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023, at Kingston Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Kingston, where she was a guest for the past five years.
Her beloved husband was the late Wendell John Thoman, who fell asleep in the Lord on February 04, 2014. Wendell and Tootsie were blessed to shared 56 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on June 06, 1930, in Lopez, Marion was the daughter of the late Michael Buk and Mary Kozemko Buk.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Tootsie was a graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 1948.
Prior to her retirement, Tootsie was employed as supervisor of the upholstery line for Kinder Manufacturing, formerly of Wilkes-Barre.
A woman of strong faith, Tootsie was a longtime member of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre.
Until her health no longer allowed her to do so, Tootsie was actively involved with many functions at her church, as well as at the Senior Citizens Center in Plains Township. As a young woman, she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her father, and was also an avid bowler for many years.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Mary Buk, and her husband, Wendell, Tootsie was preceded in death by her daughter, Marianne W. Dunsavage, who fell asleep in the Lord on July 19, 2017; her son-in-law, David Dunsavage, who fell asleep in the Lord on May 09, 2014; her brother, William Buk, who was killed in action during World War II; her sister, Patricia Ann Gulich; and her infant sister, Mildred Buk.
Tootsie is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, William W. Thoman and Noreen Thoman; her two beloved grandchildren, Michael Dunsavage and Marina Dunsavage; as well as her nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services were celebrated on Tuesday, October 03, 2023, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. The Reverend Father Gregory G. White, Sr., pastor of Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Wilkes-Barre, officiated.
Interment with the Rite of Committal followed on the Eastern Orthodox Lawn of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Dallas.
