Marie A. Zambito, 75, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday afternoon, February 11, 2016, at the Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.
Her husband, the love of her life, was the late Charles A. “Chuckie” Zambito, who passed away on August 25, 2008. Chuckie and Marie were blessed to share 49 wonderful years together.
Born on January 16, 1941, in Forty Fort, Marie was the daughter of the late Emil and Sophia (Bonarek) Emershaw.
Raised in Forty Fort, Marie was a graduate of the former Forty Fort High School, Class of 1958.
For over 50 years, Marie and Chuckie were co-owners of Tony and Son’s Diner, in Kingston, and Tony’s Lunch, in Forty Fort, prior to their closing.
Marie was the owner and operator of Marie’s Beauty Salon, in Swoyersville, retiring after 37 years in business. Additionally, Marie was employed for 10 years as a Unit Secretary for both Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, formerly of Kingston, and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
A faithful Catholic, Marie was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
Family was the center of Marie’s life and she treasured every moment she spent with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Also, her nieces and nephews always held a special place in heart. Marie will forever be remembered as loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Although her presence will be deeply missed, her beautiful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.
Marie is survived by her daughters, Christine Galanda and her husband, Michael, Swoyersville; and Cynthia Austin and her husband, Gene, Swoyersville; her son, Charles V. ”Vince” Zambito and his wife, Cyndi, Swoyersville; her grandchildren, Corey Zambito, Swoyersville; Joshua Galanda, Oakley, California; Jeremy Galanda, Swoyersville; and Megan Zambito, Swoyersville; her great-grandchildren, Sarah and Tyler Zambito, both of Swoyersville; her sisters, Mrs. Edward (Grace) Begost, Hopewell Junction, New York; and Mrs. Bruce (Emily) Dadurka, Forty Fort; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of both the Highland Manor and Celtic Hospice, for the outstanding care, compassion and support they bestowed upon Marie and her family during her time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, February 15, 2016, at 9:30 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
