Mariane D. Nicholas, 64, a resident of Courtdale, passed into eternal life on Saturday morning, January 06, 2024, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, following a brief illness.
Born on October 27, 1959, in Wilkes-Barre, Mariane was one of three children born to the late Russell W. Nicholas and Bernice V. Gorewich Nicholas.
Residing in Courtdale all her life, Mariane was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1977.
Mariane was employed as a bookkeeper for her family’s trucking business, Nicholas Trucking Inc., Courtdale.
First and foremost, Mariane was a fierce supporter of animal rescues – the unconditional love and support she had for animals was one of her most admirable qualities. She treated her animals like extensions of her family, even going so far as to take her late German Shepherd, Victor, on daily car rides up and down Wyoming Avenue.
Direct and honest, one would know immediately where they stood with Mariane. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as a perfectly made cocktail; cooking her favorite meals; watching all the newly released movies and television series; and beach vacations, especially to Wildwood, New Jersey.
In addition to her parents, Russell and Bernice, Mariane was preceded in death by her brother, Gary W. Nicholas; and her sister, Annette Nicholas Sincavage.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister-in-law, Carol A. Nicholas, Courtdale; her nephews, Alexander Nicholas and his wife, Samantha, and their daughter, her great-niece, Alaina, all of Courtdale; and Matthew Nicholas, Courtdale; her niece and goddaughter, Elizabeth Nicholas, Kingston; her dear lifelong friend, Mark Ricci, Plymouth; as well as her cousins, friends, and beloved cats.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Mariane’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with Gerlin Valencia, Chaplain of Allied Services, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mariane’s viewings which will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the funeral home.
