Margaret M. Shulo, 96, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Friday evening, September 11, 2020, at her home.
Her beloved husband was the late Francis M. “Frank” Shulo, who passed away on June 03, 1990. Together, Frank and Marge shared 43 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on February 22, 1924, in Ashley, Marge was one of five children born to the late Stephen and Susan (Surmick) Zapotok.
Raised in Ashley, Marge was a graduate of the former Ashley High School.
A devoted homemaker most of her life, Marge lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family.
Marge was a faithful Catholic and a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. A pillar of her church, Marge was a member of its Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also a devoted pirohy maker, and was an active volunteer with the parish’s annual bazaar and countless other parish fundraisers. Additionally, she was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Wilkes-Barre.
Although her greatest enjoyment was supporting and volunteering at her church, Marge also enjoyed playing bingo and trying her luck at the casino.
Marge was known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether it be giving rides to appointments or simply sharing a kind word, Marge was always there for her family and friends. She was blessed to live in a close-knit neighborhood and she cherished the relationships she forged with her neighbors. Above all, her family was the center of her life, and she will forever be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, Stephen and Susan Zapotok, and her husband, Frank, Marge was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John “Jack” Mascelli; her brother, Joseph Zapotok; and her sisters, Irene Kopiczak and Theresa Kerick.
