Margaret Holup Savoca, 83, a resident of Luzerne, passed away peacefully early Friday morning, June 21, 2013, at Hospice Community Care, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Her beloved husband was the late Nicholas Savoca, who passed away on August 12, 1994. Together, Nicholas and Margaret shared 45 years of marriage.
Born on March 21, 1930, in Swoyersville, Margaret was the daughter of the late Andrew Holup and Helen (Leonard) Holup.
Margaret was raised in Swoyersville and had resided there most of her life. She was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1947. Following high school, she attended the former Bradford Beauty Academy, Wilkes-Barre, where in 1947, she received a teacher’s license in cosmetology.
For many years, Margaret owned and operated her own beauty salon in Luzerne.
Margaret was a social member of the Dupont V.F.W., where she enjoyed dancing on Saturday nights. Additionally, she was a member of the Swoyersville Senior Citizens.
A faithful Catholic, Margaret was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Nicholas, Margaret was preceded in death by her brothers, John Holup and Andrew Holup; her nephew, Andrew Holup, Jr.; and her companion, William DiBuo.
Margaret is survived by her cousin, Joseph Leonard, of Swoyersville; and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
