Margaret A. “Peg” George, 90, a resident of Forty Fort, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, February 17, 2016, at Smith Healthcare LTD, Mountaintop, where she was recently a guest.
Her beloved husband was the late Paul L. George, a longtime barber and political leader of Forty Fort, who passed away on July 03, 2009. Paul and Peg were united in marriage on May 6, 1947, in the former Holy Trinity Lithuanian Church, Wilkes-Barre, and together shared 62 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on April 20, 1925, in Wilkes-Barre, Margaret was the daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Yurgatis) Clusky.
Peg was a graduate of both the former Wilkes-Barre Township High School and the former Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Prior to her retirement in 1990, Peg was employed for 20 years as the District Office Communication Controller for MetLife Insurance, Clarks Summit.
Peg was a longtime member of the former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville, now consolidated into Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
Always up on current events, Peg loved to follow politics, and was a self-proclaimed Fox News addict.
Peg enjoyed watching football and she was a great fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions. Sunday afternoon’s during football season were spent with her family watching football games.
Peg always had a soft spot for animals throughout her life, and she considered pets to be a part of the family.
Above all, Peg’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, most especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her beautiful presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Edward and Anna Clusky, and her husband, Paul, Peg was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Meg George Marshall, and her granddaughter, Cassie George Marshall, both of Reston, Virginia.
Peg is survived by her daughters, Paulette Friedman and her husband, Daniel, Mountaintop; and Christina Wood and her husband, Roy, California; her son-in-law, Steve Marshall, Herndon, Virginia; her grandchildren, Keri Friedman, Marc Friedman, Clay Wood, Jessica Wood, Caitlin Marshall and Rebecca Marshall; her great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Gavin Friedman.
