Madelyn C. Roote, 62, a resident of Trucksville, passed quietly into eternal life on Sunday morning, April 02, 2023, in the comfort of her home, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Her beloved husband was the late James M. Barto who passed away on September 18, 2021. Jim and Madelyn were blessed to share nearly 26 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on April 01, 1961, in Kingston, Madelyn was the daughter of the late Richard B. Roote and Madeline C. Baransky Roote.
Raised in West Wyoming, Madelyn was a graduate of Wyoming Area High School, Class of 1979. Later, she went on to attend Misericordia University, Dallas, where, in 2009, she acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Since her graduation, was a proud member of the Misericordia University Alumni Association.
Madelyn was employed for 20 years as manager of the process improvement team for the RCN Corporation, Wilkes-Barre, now known as Astound. Following her departure from RCN, Madelyn went on to become employed as the administrative assistant for her beloved church, Trucksville United Methodist Church, serving in that capacity until her recent retirement.
A devout member of Trucksville United Methodist Church, Madelyn not only served as the church’s administrative assistant, she also served as a Lay Member of the congregation; was a faithful attendee of the church’s Bible Study and Adult Sunday School classes; and assisted with the church’s annual Vacation Bible School.
True to her faith, Madelyn took advantage of any opportunity to spread the good news of Jesus through her works of kindness and selfless giving, and, without reservation, she was always willing to extend herself to others.
A loving and caring wife, stepmom, “grams”, sister, aunt, and friend, Madelyn was everyone’s biggest fan! Positive, upbeat, and loving, she truly enjoyed life, or as she often said, “I have lived a charmed life”. Although Madelyn’s presence will be missed beyond measure, her family is comforted by the assurance that she is home in Heaven, basking into the eyes of her Lord alongside her beloved husband and all her loved ones who were patiently waiting for her there.
In addition to her parents, Richard and Madeline Roote, and her husband, James Barto, Madelyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard “Bud” Roote, Jerrold Roote, and John E. Roote; her sister, Michele Roote; her brother-in-law, Chester Kuzma; her sister-in-law, Sally Roote; and her loving dogs, Cuddles and Rudy.
Left to cherish Madelyn’s memory are her step-daughters, Catherine Barto, Martinez, CA, and her partner, James McCargo; and Melissa Howe and her husband, Landon, Martinez, CA; her grandchildren, Sylvie and Jack Howe, Martinez, CA; her sister, Alyce Kuzma, Swoyersville, who was her devoted caregiver these past months; her brothers, Richard Roote Jr., Whites Ferry; Clifford Roote and his wife, Rosalie, Nanticoke; Daniel Roote and his wife, Amy, Falls; and Robert T.
