Louis B. “Lou” Katchko, 80, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
His loving wife is Paula J. (Tretinik) Katchko. Together, Lou and Paula celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on May 14th.
Born on January 28, 1938, in Kingston, Louis was one of two children born to the late Louis F. Katchko and Sophie (Danielowicz) Katchko Duzen, and was the step-son of the late Andrew Duzen.
Raised in Swoyersville and Dallas, Lou was a graduate of Dallas High School, Class of 1955.
Following high school, Louis enlisted in the United States Air Force honorably serving his country for four years after the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement in 1998, Louis was employed as a Corrections Officer at the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
A man of many enjoyments, Lou especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and tending to his annual vegetable garden.
Above all, Lou’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his loved ones. He especially treasured the time he shared with his beloved grandchildren and each of them held a special place in his heart. His presence will be deeply missed and he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Louis Katchko and Sophie Katchko Dzuen, and his step-father, Andrew Duzen, Lou was preceded in death by his only sister, Carol Tomascik; and his brother-in-law, Thomas Tomascik.
In addition to his wife, Paula, Lou is survived by his son, Louis Katchko and his wife, Roberta, El Paso, Texas; his daughter, Georgeann Strohecker and her husband, Steven, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; his four grandchildren, John and Robin Katchko; and Maxwell and Samuel Strohecker; and his nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Lou’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Friday, November 09, 2018, at 10:30 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort. Lou’s dear friend, Pastor James Pall, Pastor of Maple Grove United Methodist Church, will officiate the funeral service.
Entombment will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
Family and Friends are invited to Lou’s viewing which will be held on Thursday, November 08, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Friday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at the funeral home.
