Lisa A. Chernetsky, a resident of Luzerne, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, at the age of 67.
Born on July 15, 1957, in Kingston, Lisa was the cherished daughter of the late Edward Chernetsky and Gloria Sigmond Chernetsky.
Residing in Luzerne all her life, Lisa was a graduate of the former Bishop O’Reilly High School, Kingston, Class of 1975, and went on to attend Bradford Beauty Academy, where she honed her passion for hairstyling. She became a self-employed salon owner, creating not just beautiful hairstyles but also meaningful friendships with her many loyal clients.
Lisa’s career path also led her to Nabisco (later Kraft and Phillip Morris), where she worked for many years as an Information Technology Help Desk Agent. In 2002, she proudly earned a Management Information Systems Certificate from Penn State University and later continued her IT career at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
A woman of faith, Lisa was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and was a past member of the former Sacred Heart Church, Luzerne.
Lisa was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Penn State football fan, never missing a game. She found joy in watching classic game shows and nostalgic TV Land programs, and took great pride in her beautiful rose bushes, which bloomed in shades of white, yellow, peach, and pink. Lisa’s love for music was boundless – she especially adored Earth, Wind & Fire, whom she saw in concert with her sister and niece, and Bob Marley, embracing his island vibes. She loved to sunbathe and would reminisce about her favorite trips to Punta Cana, Bahamas, Florida, and California. Lisa also had a deep love for dogs, especially her Catahoula Leopard companions – Drake and Drew, who have since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and Dillon, who was recently adopted by a loving couple.
Above all, Lisa will be best remembered as a devoted and doting aunt who always treated her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. Her unwavering support, love, and companionship will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews, and her kindness, warmth, and enduring spirit will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Edward and Gloria Chernetsky, Lisa was preceded in death by her partner of 20 years, Dave Levy.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving family members, her sister, Jocelyn Hook and her husband, Jerry, Swoyersville; her niece, Dr. Jonelle Hook Lushefski and her husband, Robert Jr., and their children, Rocky and Alana, all of Waynesboro; her nephew, Joshua Hook and his wife, Brittany, and their children, Tyler and Gwendolyn, all of Macungie; and her dear cousins, Joseph Skibitsky Jr., Gregory Skibitsky, Judy Skibitsky Tanner, and George Adams.
