Leona B. Koschella, 84, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, December 06, 2013, at Kingston Health Care Center, Kingston, where she had recently been a guest.
Her beloved husband was the late Joseph John Koschella, who passed away on February 22, 2012. Together, Joseph and Leona shared 56 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on April 21, 1929, in Swoyersville, Leona was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Drazba) Treckiewicz.
Raised in Swoyersville, Leona was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1947.
Prior to her retirement in 1994, Leona was employed for thirty-five years by the Social Security Administration.
A faithful Catholic, Leona was a daily communicant and longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, Leona became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Leona was a loving and dedicated homemaker who enjoyed tending to the daily needs of her home and family. She took great enjoyment in sitting on her front porch and watching people pass by.
Family was the most important thing to Leona throughout her life and she cherished every moment she had with her loved ones. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her legacy of being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will continue to live on in the hearts of many.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Mary Treckiewicz, Leona was preceded in death by her grandson, David Mishkel, who passed away on November 03, 2011; her brothers, Joseph Treckiewicz, Jake Kasper and Peter Kasper; her sisters, Helen Kasper, Stella Kasper, Ann Yenchak, Marion Clewell, Josephine Pucylowski and Theresa Gavlick.
Leona is survived by her children, James Koschella, of Boston, Massachusetts; Joan Mishkel and her husband Ken, of Yorktown, Virginia; Sharon VonFrantzius and her husband Ted, of Tamarac, Florida; Lisa St. Clair and her husband Lee, of Swoyersville; her grandchildren, Steven Mishkel; Seth, Hana, Nora and Noah St. Clair; numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Swoyersville.
