Lawrence Frank “Larry” Kiwak, 71, passed away suddenly on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2024, at his home.
His loving wife is JoAnn Andruscavage Kiwak. Together, Larry and JoAnn celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on September 20, 2023.
Born on August 03, 1952, in Kingston, Larry was one of three children born to the late Frank Kiwak and Helen Stroinski Kiwak.
Raised in Swoyersville, Larry was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1970.
Following high school, Larry enlisted with the United States Army Reserves, serving as a medic with the 300th Field Hospital, Wilkes-Barre. Upon his honorable discharge on July 21, 1976, he attained the rank of Specialist Four.
Prior to his retirement, Larry was a dedicated employee of Philips Lighting, Mountaintop.
A proud veteran, Larry was a long-time member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville, serving as President of its Board of Directors for many years.
An avid outdoorsman, Larry loved to fish, garden, hunt, and pick mushrooms. Keeping the Kiwak tradition alive, he was also an avid Kielbasa maker for many, many years. He enjoyed cooking and sharing a meal with friends who were alone during the holidays, loved taking his sister, Patti, to lunch and spending time with her.
Larry’s love for Yankees baseball and country music were only surpassed by the love for his grandchildren, Mason, Grace, Jack, and Laney.
In addition to his parents, Frank and Helen, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Kiwak; and his brother-in-law, William Galletti.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, JoAnn, and their four daughters, Jessica Longstreet (Mark), Clarks Summit; Lisa Kelly (Sean), Lafayette Hill; Michelle Rollo (Michael), Chalfont; and Jody Kiwak, Swoyersville; four grandchildren, Mason, Grace, Jack, and Laney; his sister, Irene “Patti” Galletti, Swoyersville; his sister-in-law, Margaret “Peggy” Kiwak, Souderton; as well as his many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
The Kiwak family wishes to extend their utmost appreciation to Dr. Ira Vohra for the care she provided Larry over the years.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 9:15 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, with Monsignor David L. Tressler, Pastor, officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army at the conclusion of Larry’s Funeral Mass.
Family and friends are invited to attend Larry’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
